Just in case you have ever wondered…of course you have…the village of Felbrigg gets its name from the Danish translation of ‘plank bridge’. As for why exactly the village was given this name…well, that’s unfortunately something we haven’t been able to track down or figure out as of yet, but we’d be delighted to hear your own thoughts and theories! In any case, Felbrigg is just the kind of village in which we love to do business and really does bring to the 21st century a glorious snapshot of times gone by. If it’s a corner of Norfolk you haven’t yet visited, you’re long overdue a treat!
One of the questions we frequently get asked here at take my scrap car is that of what exactly happens each time we pick up and take away a Felbrigg scrap car? Or more importantly, would it not be possible just to simply take the car and passed it directly on to those who do the recycling part of the job?
Well, the first thing we do what we take away your car is begin stripping it right down to its bare bones and removing absolutely everything that can be removed. It’s then a somewhat arduous process of going through all the bits and pieces in order to determine which can be recycled, which can be reused immediately and which need to be disposed of responsibly. We group together recyclables, we handle responsible disposal processes and we make sure that anything that can be reused doesn’t go to waste.
After this, it’s a case of taking the body of the car and shredding or crushing it down into a form that will be accepted by those who carry out the recycling. Once again, different metals and materials have to be sorted and grouped together, which never fails to be a time consuming process. The final leg of the journey then comes when we take your car in its ‘new’ form over to the recycling plant, were no less than 80% of everything that went into it gets melted down, processed and once again made into something brand new.
From computers to washing machines to toasters to brand new cars, your old vehicle could be given a second life as almost anything imaginable. You never know, there’s every likelihood that you and your Felbrigg scrap car could cross paths again in the future!
