Today’s Houghton on the Hill is a far cry from the village of yesteryear for one rather important reason. Once a town of around 50 residents populating 10 handsome cottages, Houghton on the Hill is now deserted. The last of the houses were demolished around 20 years ago, leaving little behind but the village’s hauntingly beautiful church and a great deal of history.
