Here at Take My Scrap Car, there are some questions we get asked more than any others – and here’s a reminder of a few of them:

1 – Do You Really Take Any Cars At All?      car-scrapping-faq-revisited–the-what-why-and-how

In a word, yes. We’re not like other scrap car dealers that are only bothered about working parts or selling the car on to a new buyer – to us it’s all about the recycling. There’s a ton of stuff in every car that can be recycled and put back to good use as something else, so we see it only fitting that we make this happen. So even if the car hasn’t moved for years, it’s just right for us!

2 – How Much Will I Get in Return?

Exactly how much cash in the bank for scrap cars is offered will be determined by the car’s size, type, year, condition and whether or not it’s still in one piece. It’s all about the materials that are there along with their weight and condition, but you can rest assured that we’ll always offer you the best conditions. And if you get a better offer from somewhere else when looking to scrap a car, we’ll match or beat it.

3 – How Do I Get My Car To You?

Quite simply, you don’t! We don’t think it’s fair or realistic to expect folk to be able to bring their old cars to us – how can you drive a car that’s neither taxed nor road-worthy in any way? Of course you can’t, which is why we make the unique promise of coming to you no matter where you are across Norfolk. Better still, we’re the only scrap cars service in the UK today that has drivers on the roads pretty much at all hours of the day and night. So, no matter how antisocial the hour, we’ll work around you and won’t charge you a penny for it.

4 – What Happens To My Car?

It’s a pretty complex process, but our role is to get the thing ready for recycling. This involves a fair few steps including the draining of all fluids, the removal of things that can be reused right away and the separating of all the material that will be sent away to be recycled. We then take charge of shredding or crushing the car as a whole prior to transporting it to the recycling plant.

5 – Do I Need To Let The DVLA Know?

Indeed you do, but we’ll make sure it’s all sorted before we consider the deal closed. More often than not we can take care of all the paperwork on your behalf, but if not we’ll at the very least make sure you know what to do, how to do and when it needs doing. We’re not in the habit of leaving our customers to their own devices and letting them risk getting lumped with fines – we like to think that it’s this kind of peace of mind that makes all the difference with us!
