Ok, we admit that it probably isn’t the kind of news that will have most of our customers jumping with joy and screaming with excitement, but for those of us in the vehicle recycling industry, it’s a pretty exciting headline to say the least. Once again, the annual International Automobile Recycling Congress has been confirmed for 2016 and we now know that the event will take place in Berlin. Conference organiser ICM recently made the announcement official, so once again all eyes will be on the German capital next year.   berlin-confirmed-as-international-automobile-recycling-congress-2016-host-city

For those interested…which admittedly may be a rather select segment of the market…the event is set to take place between March 16 and March 18 next year at the Hotel Palace in Berlin. As always, and now in its incredible 16th year, the event is held as a unique opportunity to bring together all of the most important players in the field of vehicle scrapping and recycling. Now more than ever, the end-of-life vehicle chain is of the utmost importance both to the United Kingdom and pretty much every other country out there, as the world slowly but surely recognises and acknowledges the importance of how crucial it really is to ensure all vehicles are recycled appropriately when and where the time comes.

The event attracts hundreds of industry leaders and representatives from all over the world, including car scrapping businesses, recycling specialists, car manufacturers and even those who play a role in the creation of national and international recycling policies. This year, a minimum of 250 attendees are expected to descend on Berlin where the most important issues regarding car recycling and scrapping will be brought to the table and hammered out.

Among the most important of topics to be discussed at the event this year will be:

  • The best approach to closing the ‘recycling loop’ and effectively making the car manufacturing industry self-sufficient in terms of material procurement by working more closely with the dismantling industry.
  • All new and upcoming scrapping and recycling technologies which will play a role in revolutionising the way we approach the dismantling and reuse of materials going forward.
  • The specific roles those in the recycling chain play on the way in which responsibilities can be better distributed and taken charge of.
  • Any relevant updates or amendments to regulations and laws regarding the disposal and recycling of redundant vehicles.
  • Action plans and reports by leading international car manufacturers on how on-going goals with regard to recycling and material reuse will be met.

Of course the above represents nothing more than a brief snippet with regard to the topics and subjects of importance set to be discussed in Berlin, where guests will also be treated to a networking dinner and a cocktail reception. Suffice to say, we at Take My Scrap Car will be keeping a close eye on every little thing that happens at the event in order to ensure that when and where we are able to improve our own service to customers and indeed do the recycling chain in general a favour, you can rest assured we’ll do it.
