One of the most often asked questions thrown our way is also maybe the most obvious – where do all the car parts go? The average vehicle has millions of bits and pieces – all of which could not simply disappear from the face of the planet no matter how convenient that might be. Naturally, it is no secret these days that the years of the landfill are well and truly over, so what exactly happens to the car’s parts and where do they go?
Recycling Responsibly
The simple answer to all this is…if you use the services of Take My Scrap Car of course…they all go to a very good place. What separates any given vehicle scrapping provider from the dedicated vehicle recycling company is the way in which the latter will be committed to ensure all parts of all vehicles are put back to good use. While it could be easier to just take the expensive stuff and put the rest on a pile, this goes against all EU recycling regulations.
Which basically means that if you are not doing it the TMSC way, you are doing it wrong!
Recycle or Reuse
As you will probably know, the best kind of recycling is the type where any component or product is used once again without the need for any processing. It makes sense – where and when there is anything that still has some life in it, why will you not use it again? The average vehicle features thousands of bits and pieces that are universally useful and also tend to live longer than the vehicle as a whole. Therefore, it is our job to locate these pieces and parts, remove them, test them, ensure they are in good condition and finally find a nice home for them.
Then naturally there are many things like tyres, which although being us bad condition at the time can be repairable. And when it comes to the car’s battery, the acid inside could be recycled – as too could the plastic case.
Anything that is electronic and is still good to use could be taken away, refurbished and used again – as many bits and pieces of the vehicle’s furniture that could have life left in them.
After this, it is a case of separating all the metals that are left so they can be sent off to the appropriate recycling plants. Be it crushing, shredding or manually dismantling, it is a heck of a job!
Some people have asked us every now and then if all we do is driving the vehicles to the recycling plants. To which we always answer: If only it was so simple!!
