Let’s just get one thing straight – car crashes are never funny. Even in instances where nobody suffers so much of a scratch, it’s still not exactly the kind of incident anyone should be taking pleasure in the thought of.

That said, there will always be examples of car crashes that are somewhat more eyebrow-raising than others. One of which took place this very week in Barnsley, where the proud owner of a brand-new supercar found himself forced to swallow his pride in the worst possible way.

Specifically, a driver managed to lose control of a stunning Ferrari 430 Scuderia on the M1 in South Yorkshire, having apparently underestimated the complexity of controlling Italian supercars in wet weather. According to eyewitnesses, the Ferrari spun out of control, flew into the air and summarily careered the 50 metres down a bank into a field.

At which point, the whole thing burst into flames and was incinerated.

Suffice to say, barely enough left to warrant scrapping the thing!

“Officers asked the driver what sort of car he ‘had’ to which he replied ‘it was a Ferrari’,” read the statement released by South Yorkshire Police via Facebook.

“Detecting a sense of damaged pride he then said ‘I’ve only just got it, picked it up an hour ago’.”

So that’s not only the pain of a terrifying crash to deal with, but also the embarrassment of comprehensively proving that you really do not know how to handle a Ferrari. As far as South Yorkshire Police were concerned, the whole incident further highlighted the importance of taking extra care on the roads during wet weather.

“Over the past couple of weeks there has been a number of collisions where driving styles have not reflected the road and weather conditions. Please take more care,” they urged.
