These are the terms on which Take My Scrap Car ("we", "us") quotes for, collects and pays for vehicles. By asking us for a quote or booking a collection you agree to them.
Quotes
- We quote from the registration you give us and the vehicle's weight, on the phone or by reply to the form on this site.
- A quote assumes the vehicle is as you described it: complete, with its engine, gearbox, catalytic converter, wheels and battery in place unless you tell us otherwise. If the vehicle is materially different when our driver arrives, we will tell you before anything is loaded and you may decline the collection at no cost.
- Scrap metal prices move, so a quote is valid for the collection we arrange with you.
Collection
- Collection is free anywhere in Norfolk and Suffolk. We arrange a time with you and collect the same day where we can.
- You must be the vehicle's registered keeper or have the keeper's authority to dispose of it, and the vehicle must be free of finance. We will ask for proof of identity and, where you have it, the V5C logbook.
- Please remove your belongings before collection. We are not responsible for items left in the vehicle.
- If you want to keep a private registration, apply to the DVLA to transfer it before collection. It cannot be recovered once the vehicle has been destroyed.
Paperwork
- We complete the DVLA notification with you on collection and give you a Waste Transfer Note.
- Vehicles bought as scrap are destroyed at our Authorised Treatment Facility, regulated by the Environment Agency, and a Certificate of Destruction is issued. From that point you are no longer responsible for the vehicle.
Payment
- We pay the agreed amount on the day of collection by PayPal, bank transfer or cheque. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 does not allow scrap to be paid for in cash, which is why every licensed yard pays this way.

- Reviews you give us may be published on this site and shared with our review partner, Feefo. We may edit for length or remove reviews that are abusive or not about a collection we carried out.
- The content of this site is ours and may not be copied for commercial use without our permission. We aim to keep it accurate but it is not a substitute for a quote.
