This policy explains what Take My Scrap Car ("we", "us") does with the personal information you give us through this website and over the phone, and the rights you have over it. It applies to takemyscrapcar.com and to our quote line.
What we collect, and why
- Quote and collection details: your name, email address, phone number, the vehicle registration and the collection address. We use these to quote you, to arrange and carry out the collection, to complete the DVLA paperwork with you and to pay you.
- Vehicle details: we look the registration up against the DVSA's public vehicle records to confirm the make, model and MOT history before we quote.
- Calls and texts: when you ask for a callback we ring you, and we may text you to confirm a collection. We keep a record of the call having been made.
- Reviews: if you leave a review, the name and words you give us are published on this site and may be shared with our review partner, Feefo.
- Site usage: this site uses analytics to understand how it is used and, where you accept it, marketing cookies so we can measure our advertising. You can accept or decline these at the cookie banner.
Our legal basis
We process your details because they are necessary to carry out the contract you ask for (quoting, collecting and paying for your vehicle), to meet our legal duties as an Authorised Treatment Facility (the DVLA paperwork, the Waste Transfer Note and the Certificate of Destruction), and for our legitimate interest in running and improving the service.
How long we keep it
Vehicle collection records, including the DVLA notification, the Waste Transfer Note and the Certificate of Destruction, are kept for the period the law requires of a licensed vehicle recycler. Enquiries that do not lead to a collection are kept for up to two years so we can answer you if you come back to us. Reviews stay published until you ask us to remove them.
Who we share it with
The DVLA, as the law requires when a vehicle changes hands or is destroyed. Our review partner, Feefo, if you choose to review us. The service providers that run this website, our phone line and our text messages, who process your details only on our instructions. We never sell your details.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we no longer need it, and object to our using it for marketing.
