By nature, the average end-of-life vehicle isn’t usually in fantastic condition. Most motorists don’t make the decision to scrap a car until it is literally falling to pieces.
At which point, it’s no longer safe to drive on public roads. In fact, it’s a miracle if it even starts up in the first place.
But what happens when a scrap car needs collecting that’s in particularly poor working order? Suppose moving it by conventional means is out of the question – can it still be collected and disposed of?
The short answer is yes, for the simple reason that specialist equipment is used for collection and transportation. Though it is essential to ensure that all such information is communicated in advance, just in case special arrangements need to be made.
Can I Scrap a Car with A Broken Engine?
It’s commonplace (if not the norm) for end-of-life vehicles to have engine troubles. Or in some instances, have no engines at all – having been salvaged for parts. This isn’t an issue where collecting and disposing of end-of-life vehicles is concerned.
Collection of scrap cars is by no means dependent on them starting and running in the normal way. If anything, it’s expected that starting and running a scrap car is out of the question. You therefore do not need to worry if your car has a broken engine – we can still collect it and dispose of it.
Can I Scrap a Car with Flat Tyres?
The same also applies to cars with flat tyres. The only movement of the vehicle necessary will be transferring it onto the collection truck. This means flat tyres are not an issue, as they will not have any bearing on the collection or transportation of your car.
Most scrap cars that have been left to their own devices for some time end up with tyres that are flat as a pancake. So again, it tends to be something that is anticipated and compensated for (where necessary) in advance.
Though it’s still a good idea to communicate this kind of information ahead of time, just in case.
Can I Scrap a Car with No Wheels?
Last up, collecting a scrap car with one or more missing wheels is a slightly more complex process. It may not be possible to roll it backwards or forwards (even with power), meaning it has to be physically lifted onto the collection vehicle.
This is something not all car scrapping and recycling agents can offer. Here at Take My Scrap Car, we have the specialist equipment needed to collect immobile vehicles in any condition.
Just be sure to let us know if your scrap vehicle is in a particularly sorry state of repair, when booking your collection with a member of our team.
