It’s pretty safe to say that no matter how bad your hangover is this coming weekend, it will not be nearly as bad as that of one as yet unnamed Melbourne resident. You know that awful, pounding headache that makes whatever you did the night before seem like a bad idea? Well, how about having to be rescued from under four tonnes of scrap metal, after ending up stuck head first in a steel bin at a recycling yard?

It sounds too bizarre to possibly be true, but it is – so reports The Herald Sun. The long and short of it being that the hapless chap apparently had a bit of a fallout with his wife, summarily barging out of the family home and getting himself well and truly drunk. Exactly how he managed to get himself into this particular predicament remains a mystery even to him – he apparently has no idea what on earth happened to him. man-wakes-up-in-scrap-metal-bin-with-a-four-tonne-hangover

Still, he somehow found his way over to Breakwater Metal Recyclers in Breakwater Geelong, west of Melbourne, sometime in the relatively early morning.

‘Apparently he reckons he got pissed last night on the way home,’ the owner of the scrap metal yard, Wayne Gill, explained.

‘He had a blue with his wife and he decided he’d come down to the scrap metal yard and he said to me: “Stuffed if I know how I got in here upside down, I’ve just woken up and found myself in a scrap metal yard with four tonne of scrap metal on top of me”.’

When he was discovered, all that was visible where his two legs sticking out of the pile of scrap metal in which he was well and truly embedded.

‘The owner has arrived and heard some moaning in the yard and thought it was coming from the shed nearby,’ Sergeant Dan Willsmore said.

‘He’s then looked through bins and saw legs sticking out into the air.’

CCTV footage is currently being reviewed by local police, in order to shed at least some light on the undeniably bizarre incident. On the plus side, the victim managed to somehow escape without any life threatening injuries, though it is said to have done some rather unfortunate damage to his pelvis.

Ouch!
