Here at Take My Scrap Car, it never fails to surprise us just how many people come our way with all manner of weird and wonderful ideas about the modern car scrapping industry. Of course the reason is quite understandable – there’s so much conflicting information out there right now that it’s hard to know what to read into.

So, as we’re not in the habit of misleading folk, we thought we’d clear up one or two little pointers just to make sure we’re on the same page…and here they are:

Myth – Car Scrapping Leaves You Out of Pocket

This used to be 100% true and was exactly the reason why most people with old cars just left them to go rotten on the drive year after year. Mercifully however this has all changed for the better as if you come to a decent scrapping service…like us of course…it won’t cost you a penny. Quite literally, there’s nothing at all we do that attaches a fee, so no matter how much effort’s needed to get the job done, it’s free of charge to you.       Car accident

Myth – Car Scrapping is a Pain in the Bum

Once again, this all comes down to who you choose to get the job done but if you come to Take My Scrap Car, the only effort you need to make is lifting the phone and giving us a call…that’s it! Once we know what’s what, we’ll come to you no matter where you are and take care of everything on your behalf. Whatever the time and really any day of the week is fine – we can even come out on the very same day if circumstances permit.

Myth – Why Scrap When ‘They’ Will Buy Any Car?

That’s an easy one…they won’t! It’s one of those things where it’s a bit on the misleading side, though plenty of dealers get away with saying it. Yes, they’ll buy any car, but only if you’re able to get the thing to one of their service centres in the first place and then have it pass a series of rather rigorous tests. So, if you’ve got a car that no longer has any of its wheels or half of its bodywork, well…good luck with that one!

Myth – It’s Better Just to Sell It

If you have an old car that’s still in good condition and is 100% safe to drive, then sure, selling it makes sense. Here however we’re talking about scrap cars – as in the kinds of cars that have already outlived their useful life and are either wholly unusable or unsafe to drive. In which case, what on Earth are you doing thinking about pawning it off on some other poor family? You have to ask yourself why you’re getting rid of it, as if it comes down to the fact that it’s no longer safe or reliable enough for you, chances are you shouldn’t be trying to pass it on.
