Here’s a quick duo of facts you probably never knew about the humble car battery:
1 – Did you know that car batteries can be recycled in a big way?
2 – Did you have any idea that vehicle batteries are the single most recycled product in the world?
You see – we’re always full of golden nuggets of wisdom with which to enrich your life!
But there is of course a serious side to the subject, which revolves around the fact that an astonishing 99% of the average automotive battery can and should be fully recycled. When a person thinks about car recycling, they usually think about little more than the steel of the frame – clearly one of the most important and valuable assets of all. The rest however barely gets a second thought – certain car scrapping and recycling agents are also somewhat guilty of focusing on the bigger bits and tossing the rest to one side.
When handled appropriately by the best in the business, pretty much every last bit of a car’s battery can be recycled. From the plastic casing which can be used to make new battery shells right through to the acids within – almost nothing has to go to waste. Chances are you didn’t realise that the battery in your car today probably started out at a somewhat remedial car battery back in the 50s or 60s, but it’s true!
As it stands, approximately 95% of vehicle batteries on a global basis are recycled. Not a bad figure to start with, but at the same time data that shows how tens of thousands of batteries are going wholly un-recycled every month. Why is this the case? It’s simple really – studies have also shown that at least 10% of people have no idea about battery recycling, or at least don’t know where to take their batteries or what to do with them.
When we recycle a car, we recycle every last bit of it. While there are those out there that are happy to take the shell of the car off to the steel plant and leave the rest out to rot, this isn’t how we work – never has been and never will be. Instead, we make sure that anything with the chance of living a second life as something else is given exactly such a chance. From the windows to the wiring to the tyres and that oh-so important battery, if there’s a way of putting it back into use, you can be sure we’ll make it happen.
We like to think we’re a cut above the rest for the simple reason that we work so uniquely hard at what we do. Take My Scrap Car was established in the first place for the sole purpose of offering a unique service package that was both wholly outstanding for clients and brilliantly responsible from a recycling perspective. That’s exactly the package we’re offering today in and around the Norfolk area, so when the time comes to send your old car off for a reliable reincarnation, we’re the guys to call.
