Scratby – more formally referred to as Ormesby St Margaret with Scratby – occupies an enviable position right next to the seaside resort of California. Not to be confused with California on the west coast of the United States, Scratby is close to Norfolk’s very own California by the sea. The name having derived from the discovery of a bunch of 16th century gold coins on a beach right back in 1848, which was right at the time the gold rush in California was making headline news all over the world. Scratby itself is a simply stunning village, with one of the most beautiful beaches on the entire Norfolk coastline. Quiet and tranquil throughout most of the year, the compact resident population of Scratby explodes with sun- seekers during the warmer summer months.
Norfolk is home to some of the most beautiful towns and villages in the whole of the UK. Nevertheless, it’s only by working together that we’re able to keep this corner of the country as beautiful as it is. Responsible recycling playing a key role in preserving everything that makes Norfolk such a wonderful place to live and work.
