So, if you’ve watched so much as five minutes of television over the past year or so, chances are you’ll have come across about a dozen car buying services that look, sound and promise the same. They tell you that they’ll buy any car no matter what and give you the very best price for it, which for those nursing half-dead or fully clapped out cars across the UK sounds like a pretty sweet deal. After all, if you can’t sell the car onto another buyer, why not take it to a business that guarantees to buy any car for cash?
Well, as far as we’re concerned the answer is a pretty simple one – they won’t buy any car. Here at Take My Scrap Car, we’re in the business of taking cars that have absolutely no place on the roads and processing them ready for recycling. And for coming to us, we make sure our customers get a little deal-sweetener. By contrast, our friends on the other side of the market are in the business of buying used cars, polishing them up and then selling them on. Which means that if your car still has a good deal of life in it, they could be the guys to go to.
In order to qualify for these kinds of services and offers, well…let’s just say it’s never quite as black and white as they like to make out. First of all, it comes down to you to get your car to one of their service centres. Suffice to say this can prove to be easier said than done if you’re looking at an old car with no tax, no insurance and perhaps no steering wheel to boot. So, chances are it’s going to cost you to get it there, but even then you’re not guaranteed a result. The reason being that before any cars are accepted, they’re given a pretty in-depth going-over by a professional in order to establish their worth. So, once again, it’s all well and good if your car still has life in it, but if we’re talking about a genuine scrap here, no dice.
On the whole therefore, it’s a bit misleading to claim you’ll buy any car no matter what when really there’s more small print and strings attached than you’d believe.
Here at Take My Scrap Car, we operate right at the different end of the spectrum. As mentioned, there’s a big difference between taking cars away for recycling and trying to patch them up and sell them on for profit – the latter being something we’re really not interested in. And it’s because of this that we can legitimately say that we will take any car – we won’t be able to make you rich for your efforts, but you’ll go away with a little reward at least.
It’s all about taking a realistic look at the car you’re getting rid of. If there’s good life in it, sell it on. If there’s no life left in it, we’re the guys to call…simple as that!
