Here at Take My Scrap Car, there’s absolutely nothing we value more than optimism and positivity. We are firm believers that if you genuinely think you can get something done, chances are you absolutely can. That is of course, unless you cross the very fine line into the outright delusional, in which case the only person you’re kidding is yourself!
Which brings us quite nicely onto a story we came across this week about a chap from the United States who decided that the time had come to sell his once glorious ride. Rather than go into everything into much detail right now, it’s probably better if you just gaze upon it for a few moments:
Quite the masterpiece, isn’t it?
What you are looking at here is what was at some point in its history a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. In the meantime, however, it has for reasons that have not been explained been well and truly burnt to a crisp. In its heyday, it boasted a stunning Hugger Orange paint job and is indeed a genuine first generation Z/28. All of which means that if it was in its original condition, it would be worth an absolute fortune. In this state however, you have to wonder whether anyone in their right mind would be willing to pay a penny for it.
This seems to have not worried its owner, who currently has this burnt out shell on sale on Craigslist for $4,900. You can only assume that he’s desperately trying to find someone interested in restoring it back to its former glory, which is probably why he was kind enough to include a couple of shots of how it looked back in 2010.
Actually seeing how it is supposed to look might in fact make it even more difficult to look at its current condition!
In any case, it would take a serious restoration job and a quite ridiculous amount of money to even get close to restoring this tragic Chevy – would it work out any cheaper than just buying one outright? Well, assuming you could find one, given the fact that they are rare as rocking horse droppings these days!
Sensible Car Scrapping
So yes, the team here at Take My Scrap Car firmly believes that this particular individual clearly straddles the fine line between incredibly optimistic and downright deluded. We will of course be willing to eat out proverbial hats should it happen to sell, but we don’t see it happening in this lifetime!
If you yourself happen to have a scrap car to get rid of, give us a call with the details and we will offer you the best service package on the market. We will come to you no matter where you happen to be, we’ll take your car away 100% free of charge and we will pay you a fair price in accordance with scrap market values at the time.
You could always try listing it, but if it looks even remotely like the picture included in this post…well, good luck with that one!
