Every time the British authorities decide to bring in a new industry act or in some way alter regulations regarding the way business is done, the industry in question tends to breathe a very large collective sigh. This was exactly the case when the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 was brought in, which undeniably made it a little bit more complicated for a fair few legit dealers to get by, but was ultimately for the greater good of the industry.

Long story short, the act made it impossible for any scrap dealer of any sort to operate legally without full licensing. This was imposed in order to not only ensure that dealers were operating fairly, but also to make it difficult or impossible for working scrap businesses to deal with anyone selling scrap metal that was either stolen or received by illicit means.  scrap-metal-dodgy-deals-down–dealers-act-delivers-results

One year later, it seems like things are going very well to say the least – in some areas of the UK scrap metal thefts are down by a massive 75% or higher! There’s simply no debating how positive this is for the country as a whole as while the UK’s legitimate businesses are doing better than ever, there’s a massively lower chance of anyone finding their own property being stolen for the purposes of it then being sold on for scrap.

Lower scrap metal thefts means fewer stolen cars, fewer break-ins and a wholly reduced risk of finding yourself face to face with a criminal type that’s out to strip you of your stuff – who can argue with that list of benefits?

Licensed, Regulated, Responsible

Here at Take My Scrap Car, we’ve always insisted on doing everything by the book. This means not only the way we obtain scrap cars and everything we do in the interim, but also the way we strip, prepare and ultimately ensure all recyclable parts are indeed recycled. The EU makes it very clear when it comes to recycling in-line with the best recycling practices, which these days do tend to be overlooked or flouted by some.

The simple fact of the matter is that up to 80% of the steel in your car can be recycled – we make it happen. What’s more, tons of other bits and pieces can be recycled or reused in one way or another – we make this happen too. To do business with us is to know you’re giving your business to a licensed, regulated and responsible business that’s as firmly opposed to the dodgy side of the industry as anyone else.

We also do all we can to make it as easy as possible for you to get rid of your scrap car at any time of year. All we need from you is a quick phone call to let us know where you are, what you have and when you’d like us to head out and take it from you – that really is all there is to it!

Give us a call at your convenience and we’ll tell you all about the Take My Scrap Car difference.
